Hello! I’m Elise, a Vancouver Island based photographer and I am endlessly fascinated by the idea of capturing people where and when they are most themselves, whatever that looks like. My primary focus (little pun for you) is documentary style photography featuring the passions of makers and creatives as they produce art in many and any forms. Honestly, just any human doing their passion is what my passion is.

I started my photography journey in the early 2000’s, learning to shoot with a manual Pentax camera (ASAHI Spotmatic F, for those interested in the vintage camera world). The first wedding I shot was on film, in a church basement, with no flash. What a time to be alive! In 2009 I switched over to my first dSLR and began doing portraiture and weddings, which was fun and wonderful and I am endlessly grateful for the opportunities that gave me, but ultimately it was not what I envisioned myself doing forever when it came to art and photography. In 2012 I moved provinces, packed away the photography gear and switched careers.

I’ve pulled out my camera few times since then for a few weddings of near and dears, and have been thrilled to be trusted with capturing wedding days, 15 years after I first began. In 2022 I updated my camera to a new dSLR and have been enjoying the upgrades to the digital SLR world. Probably won’t catch a mirrorless in my hand, and I still shoot pentax. And that’s probably enough shop talk!

If you’re looking for someone to capture you or your loved ones most authentic self as they ply their trade or sport or craft or art, please send me a message with your vision and let’s see if together we can capture some magic!
